Road South To National Park Will Be Built

Construction of a highway from Dauphin to the Hiding Mountain National Park boundary will proceed with 50 percent provincial funding contingent on federal matching support. The eight mile link, costing about 30000 dollars, will shorten the Dauphin to Clear Lake route by about 25 miles and tie into a 27 mile park road, with local labor to be arranged through the Dauphin employment office. The project aligns with Manitoba works pending provincial premier Bennett at Ottawa.

Delmage Retains Provincial Grass Court Title at Minnedosa

Mrs J E Delmage of Dauphin wins the open singles in the Minnedosa Lawn Tennis club provincial grass court championships for the 10th straight year with a straight set victory over Mise Madge Corness of Brandon. Dauphin Agricultural Society Considers Prize Payment Plan

Over thirty Dauphin Agricultural Society directors met to discuss finances. Chair Charles Padley urged paying full Hall Exhibits prize money and 50 percent of other prizes, citing $1,200 needed to clear liabilities. The group rejected full payment now without feasible loan options, recalling earlier years’ bank loans tied to provincial grants. Survey Underway For Dauphin South Highway To Riding Mountain

H W R Gemmel in charge at Dauphin reports to Manitoba Public Works to survey the proposed highway south from Dauphin to the Riding Mountain National Park boundary and submit plans and costs. On Wednesday a survey party led by Les Kennedy began surveying the route, long sought by local municipal and trade groups since early this year.

Ste. Rose Family Tragedy After Highway Crash

Ste. Rose du Lac man Alex Tardiff aged 48 died likely of a heart attack while driving Sunday evening on highway 5 near McCreary. His wife and four children rode in the car. Mrs Tardiff suffered a broken collar bone and shaking. The car broke through a railing and landed in a creek bed.
