Numerous residents and visitors are seen in and around Dauphin and Winnipeg. Soldiers and relatives, including Cpl Joe Davis and LAC Hugh Kerr, share leaves with families. teas at the General hospital raise funds for equipment. graduations and post graduate studies mark postings and farewells.
About 100 Scouts and Guides attended the St George Day rally at St Pauls church amid an enrolment of 180. The Middleton chapter 10DE presented a Colours to the First Dauphin Troop. A new jungle dance by the Wolf Cub Pack and several Cubs earned achievements. Local broadcasts and military and civilian movements are listed, including veterans, service leave, and nursing program plans in Dauphin and area.
Local air cadets collected 745 dollars in a recent drive. Miss K Middleton gave an illustrated talk titled Wartime Nutrition on Tuesday April 18. Earlier in the week classes gathered to view two films on sanitation Ominous Arms and The Corvette Port Arthur about the Canadian navy.
Birth notices list many families welcoming new daughters and sons between April 19 and 26 at Dauphin General Hospital and surrounding bases. Names include Sciankowysky Currie McKee McMorran Ball Rink Malick Edmunds Kischuk Pelepchuk Ropchan Cockerill Fordham Warkentin Persson, with parental details and military connections. A death notice: Babe died April 4 Edmunds.
The Little Theatre Group honored Mr. and Mrs. R. Bruce with a presentation and praised their work before the Bruce family moves to Vancouver. Mrs. H. E. Lys received a gift and appreciation for years of scene painting before leaving for Ottawa.
Alma Thall of Conwood Saskatchewan married Pte A J Koshowski son of Mr and Mrs M J Koshowski of Dauphin in Chilliwack British Columbia on Thursday April 13 The bride wore a white sheer gown and pink carnations Bridesmaid Anne Polysnnik Dauphin and Charlie Kelner Winnipeg attended The couple will reside in Chilliwack.
Edna Dorothy Fortin wed LAC Jerry Fortin of Three Rivers Quebec in Winnipeg on Saturday April 15 at No. 3 Wireless School. Frt Lieut Carpenter officiated with Miss Lilian May and LAC Claude Lebert as witnesses. The couple will reside in Winnipeg.
