Dauphin town council meets April 16 with Mayor McDonald and six councillors. The water works report notes impounding dam at Riding Mountain. Debentures for 75000 authorized to fund electric plant additions, with 5.4% interest, one to twenty year terms, serial payments. Business license levy approved. By law and finances move to commissioner for approval and then ratepayers.

Suspended Sentence and Fine for Theft in Dauphin

Charles F. Stewart of Dauphin pled guilty to theft of small items from Safeway Stores on April 4. He received a one year suspended sentence and a $100 fine plus costs, and was ordered to two months in a Winnipeg nursing home, with an extra month deemed necessary by his physician. The defense cited Stewart’s mental and nervous condition. without that evidence a jail sentence would have been imposed. A Katz defended, C B A Rogers K C prosecuted.

Obituary Isaac Hinds Transcona Engineer Dies at 52

Funeral held for Isaac Hinds 52 of 104 Regent Avenue Transcona who died Friday at home. Rev H T Tolton officiated at Greenwood's funeral home with burial in Elmwood cemetery. Former Dauphin resident he worked as an engineer at the power plant.

James Allan Reid aged 66 of 347 Maplewood Avenue Winnipeg died Friday in Winnipeg General hospital. Born in Seaforth Ontario he lived in Dauphin and Winnipeg and worked as a Willis Overland and Nash salesman until 1930. Survived by two daughters and three sons. funeral Monday in Gardiner chapel with Elmwood burial. Baby George Timewell nine months died April 16 after pneumonia and is survived by parents and four sisters. funeral at home Spruce Bluff conducted by Rev H E Bridgett and Riverside Cemetery burial.

Relief share increase to 35 percent effective April first

A communication from Hon. W. R. Clubb reports the dominion will raise the town’s direct relief share from 30 percent to 35 percent. The increase becomes effective April 1.

Dauphin Hunters Plan Crow Control by Egg Purchase

A meeting of hunters and sportsmen at Jada Bowman's office discussed joining a global movement to study wildlife preservation. They proposed buying crow eggs from local schoolchildren near lakes and breeding grounds, with funds raised by a one dollar membership to Albert Iredale and Joe Allard for paying for eggs.

Woman Burned In House Blaze From Exploded Oil Stove

Mrs. Joseph Agar of Durston district sustained burns to head and feet when an oil stove exploded early Saturday, gutting the home and its contents. She and her 15 year old maid Alice Hudson escaped, aided by neighbors, as fire destroyed the house. The elderly woman, hospitalized, shows satisfactory progress.
