Town to Pay 700 Annually to Rural Municipality
The Town of Deephin will pay Rares] Municipality of Dauphin seven hundred dollars each year in lieu of taxes on town property in the rural area. The decision was made at a municipal committee meeting with Mayor Bennett and several councillors present. A bill to legalize and permanent this arrangement is being drafted for passage in the current session. Under the agreement rural properties within the town will be exempt from taxation.

Mrs. Jong Fallis Boyd, a longtime Dauphin resident and early settler born in Germany, died April 11 after a brief illness. She arrived in Canada as a child, lived in Spruce Creek and NeePawa before settling in Dauphin, famed for hospitality. She leaves sons Samuel, William, Thomas, James, John. daughters Mrs Bonnet and Mrs Bires. eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her husband predeceased her by 16 years. Funeral held Thursday in the Baptist Church with Rev. D. Ritchie. burial in Riverside Cemetery. pallbearers listed.

Frederick J Smith aged 60 and a longtime Dominion Forestry Department employee died Friday at Dauphin General Hospital after a long illness. He helped establish Clear Lake as part of Riding Mountain National Park and later worked with the Parks Board. Survived by wife, daughter Marjorie, two sons Calvin and Earle, and siblings. Funeral at St Pauls Anglican Church with burial in Riverside cemetery.
