Over the past week 0 inches of rain fell with most of it on Saturday night. Last year 2 inches of snow and 0.7 inches of rain occurred. The period was warmer with a high of 66.5 degrees compared with 37.5 degrees in 1945.
Bertram, born in Grandview October 6 1935, was in the fourth grade and youngest son of his family. He died after a rubber-tired tractor ran over his chest and head near the hospital half a block away. Survived by parents, sisters Reta and Betty, and brothers Gerald Boissevain Kenneth and Harold. PO John W Arthurs enlisted in 1941 at 21 and trained as an observer. He served overseas and transferred to India in 1942 before reporting missing after operations against enemy territory. He had two brothers in the armed forces and several siblings in school and nursing training.
Bert Scrase sells his Dauphin Meat Market to H. Keats and P. Hyndiuk after 25 years in operation. Scrase and his father ran the business as partners until Frank Scrase's death eight years ago. He credits wife Mabel for much of his success and plans to continue in cattle shipments and butchery at Clear Lake.

A Arnal has been appointed agricultural representative for Ste Rose du Lac area. He will office at the municipal building and cover Ste Rose McCreary Lawrence and surrounding unorganized territory, moving from the Dauphin office. Arnal, a native of Fanny Manitoba, is a University of Manitoba graduate and returned last December from overseas service in Italy and western Europe. He and his wife have moved to Ste Rose.

Taylor helped found the co op in 1939. membership grew from 67 to over 900. E B Chown of Manitoba cooperative wholesale praised 1946 results. George A Hunt and D Simmons named to two year terms.
Businesses in Dauphin will close on Good Friday with Thursday after noon observed as a half holiday. The post office stays open Thursday afternoon and will have one hour of service on Good Friday from 9 to 10. The Dominion government lists official holidays as New Year’s Day Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Dominion Day Labour Day Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. A Remembrance Day holiday may follow after consultations with veterans groups. Banks and employment offices are the main institutions anticipated to close. stores and the post office will stay open on Easter Monday.
Ochre River council cut the general mill rate by 15.7 mills for 1946 and added a road levy of 2500 dollars. The levy is expected to be half funded by a government grant. Auditors report the municipality’s financial standing as of December 31 1945.
Ray Dicks was elected president of the Dauphin Country Club and Dr. A. D. McKee vice president at the annual meeting of the golf club shareholders last Friday. Cities named Grandview Gilbert Plains Winnipegosis Ochre River Ste. Rose and Me. Creary will benefit. McElhinney was reappointed manager and Alex Warkola will again be greenskeeper.
