Public Works Plans Await Approval From Government

The town mayor and council discuss proposed Main street improvements including east side sidewalks from the CNK tracks to Third Avenue and a new street lighting system. The project awaits provincial and federal approval, with sidewalks prioritized before lighting. Last year two blocks of west side sidewalk were rebuilt under relief funds. If approved, lighting and sidewalks will share half the material cost and 20 percent of labor. Local businessmen praise the plan as boosting circulation and community spirit.
