Results of Home Craft Courses Displayed in Town Hall
Women from the Daw Phin district showcased winter crafts at a Town Hall exhibit. Organized by the extension service and led by John Conner, 232 ladies formed nine groups producing quilts, rugs, scarves, bags, knitted items, mattresses, and toys. Mayors and officials attended as groups presented demonstrations.

Residence Damage From Fire at William Taylor Home
A fire believed started by an overheated stovepipe damaged William Taylor's residence at the corner of Third Avenue SE and First Street Friday evening, with losses over $156 mostly to contents and partly insured. A Sunday garage fire at Walter McLean's First Street NE was investigated as a separate blaze.

Miss McKillop Dies One Week After Sister
Miss Marjorie McKillop dies after a lingering illness at age 52 at the family home 132 Third Avenue N.E. in Dauphin. Her sister Miss Margaret, 85, died at the same address on March 27. Survived by brothers Archie and John and sister Flora. Funeral from the brother’s home with Rev. Duncan Ritchie officiating. burial in Riverside cemetery.

Brandon Bus Service Starts Summer Run on Open Roads
Geller, president of Manitoba Motor Transit Company, completed summer operation plans. The Brandon Dauphin and Swan River service begins with the first schedule already running to Brandon. Road conditions between here and Brandon are fairly satisfactory, but Highway No 6 Dauphin to Swan River remains closed for a few days.

Funeral Services Held Sunday For Lee A Johnston
Lee Johnston known as Pat to friends, born in Dauphin 37 years ago, served in World War I with the Little Black Devils in France from 1915 to 1918. He later worked for the C N R in The Pas and was active in baseball and curling. He is survived by his wife Sarah Rhodes and three children, burial at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Duncan Ritchie officiating.

Golf Club Dance Draws Crowd at Easter Monday Ball
The annual golf club dance in the town hall on Easter Monday drew many guests from private dinner parties. The Music Makers orchestra provided entertainment beneath orange and black decor while a reception nook and lace table with daffodils added ambiance. Mrs. Prank King chaired the event with help from Mrs. M. G. Peebles.

Services at St Pauls Church on Good Friday and Easter
St Pauls Anglican Church held Good Friday morning prayer and seven meditations on The Words from the Cross. The evening featured Stainer Cruci Fixion sung by the choir under G A Wild, with soloists Miss Mudge and Mr and Mrs Middleditch. Over 300 attended. Easter Sunday saw services at 7 morning and 11 with Holy Communion and a full choir. Junior and senior Sunday school, led by Mr Middleditch, attended afternoon service. The church evening offered Easter hymns and sermons reflecting eyewitness accounts. Lilies and daffodils adorned the Holy Table in memory of loved ones.

Alfred Reid Dies in Boston Steamer Accident
Alfred Reid aged 30 died after falling from the upper deck of the City of St. Louis on the Savannah line steamer in Boston. Fellow seaman Raymond Gruber pulled him from the water. he died in hospital. Funeral services were held at the Anglican Church and Riverside cemetery. Reid left a mother Lena Reid and siblings, with several relatives listed.

No Flood Danger Near Dauphin Yet Reported
Rivers and creeks from the Riding Mountains in the Dauphin district are mostly clear of flood risk after a Wednesday check by telephone. Flood danger remains only if an exceptional mountain thaw or heavy rain occurs. In Sifton, over two dozen homes on the west and about six on the east are surrounded by floodwater from ditches. Residents wade or use rafts as cellars and wells fill, a thirty foot wide water flow crosses the south end of the main street. The Sifton floods are tied to a large drainage district from the Ethelbert ridge to Lake Dauphin, not representative of the whole district.

Highway status update from Good Roads department
The Good Roads department reports No 1 highway closed between Headingly and Portage No 2 and 3 partially blocked with detours possible No 4 blocked between Neepawa and Minnedosa No 5 open east and west of Dauphin No 6 open but passable only in sections Highway between Dauphin and Clear Lake is closed.

New Fork River Bridge Carried Away by Flood
The two central supports of the Winni pegasis highway bridge on Fork River’s outskirts were swept away late Monday as ice jams riding the swollen river cut the piles of the unfinished structure. Built as a relief project last fall with an estimated cost of 1600 dollars, the bridge was in use though not complete. River levels have dropped three feet with no expected further damage, and A H Corbett of the Reclamation Branch directs rebuilding.

Ochre River Barley and Flax Clubs Prize Awards
At the Ochre River Barley Club annual meeting John Connor distributed prizes for the field and seed competition won by S. W. Fordham, Wm. Hamilton, J. A. Thacker, and Charles Hamilton. The club reorganized with 8. V. Fordham president and William Geisel secretary treasurer, 20 members. A field day with Junior Seed Growers is planned for early August. The Ochre River Flax Club organized last Thursday with $100 in prizes set aside and ten members required to sow and aggregate 260 acres in flax.
