Lieut Col William G Barker V C D S O of Dauphin earns a second Italian silver medal for a 1918 action in which he single handedly fought sixty enemy airmen and shot down six before being downed. The award names him Protector of the Air and he now holds more decorations than any other living British airman.

The talk covered historic pursuit of the Northwest Passage and the hoped for Europe Asia connection. A lunch followed and plans for next Monday’s event were announced.

Potato Growers Meeting Postponed To April 20
The Dauphin district potato growers meeting scheduled for Tuesday April 13 is postponed to April 20 at 8 p.m. in the Municipal hall to include Prof. Straight of the Dominion Experimental Farm Morden. He will speak on potato growing and warehouse construction and the district aims to become a seed producing center with northern seed quality.

A St James Presbyterian W H M S meeting was held in the church auditorium on Thursday afternoon April 8. A large turnout of ladies attended with Mrs J G Struthers presiding. Funeral of John Dwyer in Winnipeg
John Dwyer aged 70, widow of Elizabeth Dwyer, longtime Dauphin pioneer, died at Qu Appelle after a lingering illness. Funeral held Saturday from his daughter’s home in Winnipeg to Brookside Cemetery. survivors include ten children and siblings in Manitoba Ontario and Calgary.
