Patrols of the Far North Report Caribou Beating and Poaching

The northern division under Inspector A G Cunningham logged long patrols by dog teams from Dauphin and Le Pas areas. Constable Jones reported extensive poison bait use and beaver protection calls for a three year close season while Sgt P Rose documented poison bait convictions and sparse fur yields across Flin Flon and Cold Lake districts.

Census Commissioner Appointed for Dallas Federal Seat

Robert McGregor of Gilbert Plains has been named census commissioner by the Dominion government for the Dal constituency. The appointment ties to the plan for annual subsidies to the three prairie provinces in lieu of their rural resources.

Directors Meet of Agricultural Society Sets Fair Plans

In the municipal hall on Saturday evening the Agricultural Society directors meeting chaired by vice-president H F Caldwell approved prize lists for all fair sections including race and stock events. The board budgeted $300 for repairs, granted June 4 field day use, and proposed a 12 member women directors section. J R McRae joined as director. The federal grant to B class fairs was set at $1500 for 1926, an advance of $509.

La Verendrye Chapter Members Present Souvenir Gift

At the La Verendrye Chapter 10.0.8 regular meeting Mrs. Lunn, soon leaving town, was presented a silver tray by members. Mrs. W. E. Lee praised her longtime interest in the chapter and asked acceptance of the gift as a token of grateful relations. Regent Mrs. J. Connor wished her happiness in her new surroundings as tea was served to conclude.

The council discusses pending water rate changes with a detailed table comparing meter based charges at Dauphin North Batchelor Portage la Prairie Neepawa Brandon and others. A proposal to raise rates in Dauphin is tabled for final consideration at the next adjourned meeting.

Experimental Station for Dauphin in Northern Manitoba

The Dominion Department of Agriculture will establish an experimental farm for Northern Manitoba in the Dauphin district. Site selection will consider all major soil elements and not be rushed, with a final choice by the deputy minister of agriculture and deans of Ottawa and Winnipeg experimental farms after a thorough survey. An Illustration Station is to be established at Magnet.

Dauphin Lodge Hosts Grand Officers For Easter Observances

On Good Friday the Dauphin County lodge hosted grand lodge officers including J. Mo Thompson Winnipeg grand master and Matt Owens Black Chapter. A morning lesson, divine service at Grace United, a banquet, and the Red Cross degree followed, then Easter services across local churches with new members welcomed and sermons on fitness, the death and resurrection of Christ.

Second annual Dauphin Country Club ball delights town

About seventy five couples attended the town hall event in Laser Monday night. Decorations featured black and yellow with black eyed Susans. The ball was organized by Mrs G H Palmer and others. music by the Blue Bird orchestra. A linen was served by a committee led by Mrs G C J Walker.

Winter Fair Committee Recommends March Boys' Judging

The Winter Fair committee presents to the Agricultural Society a plan for a March 1927 Boys' Judging competition and detailed stock exhibit rules. It calls for senior calf classes, beef and dairy classes, a senior bull calf sale, beef animal auctions, autumn calf selection, and boy oriented short lectures with local faculty. A Junior Directorate is proposed adding several names to the Agricultural Society board. Also notes Save the Forest week and a hockey matinee at the Dauphin theatre with Mrs. R.M. Watt addressing the Local Council of Women.

Easter Services At Local Church Include Choir Anthem Break Forth Into Joy

Mrs Beetham and Mrs Herrick lead Easter Sunday observances with Holy Communion at 11am. An afternoon young people service followed by an evening choral program features the anthem Break Forth Into Joy by Barnby.

The CNR meets Brotherhood in a two game series from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday and Monday. Winners advance to face the Normals in final games next week at 7 to 8 pm with total scores to determine the champion.
