At a November meeting of numerous liverymen at Windsor Hall the nomination of Robert Westley and Henry Marshall Esqs Aldermen was unanimously supported for Lord Mayor for the coming year. Despite private interests of public offices and great companies, the liverymen pledge to uphold election rights. Also report: Admiralty orders Woolwich to launch the Northumberland 80 Gun ship on Oct 7, and twelve brass mortars with shells bound for Germany. Bennet appointed Chief Clerk at Woolwich Yard, Sir John Cross returns from Spain, and Liverpool merchant Sharwood marries Miss Leigh. Deaths include King Stevens of Kingston and Mr Winter of Lambeth. Farmers in Cheshire reportedly produce more cheese, aiding the poor. Sewers and Turnpikes widen Deptford Bridge. Warren Dunn recaptured after escape. Bankrupts: Jarvis Coates and Harrison.
