Fleet Market London Opens For Vendors After Discontinuing Old Market

In London in August 1737 a public notice declares the Stocks Market will close on September 30 under a Common Council order. The new Fleet Market at the same site will open then, inviting traders to apply for shops stalls or stands. Committee of Common Council meetings begin weekly at Guildhall to negotiate terms and rents. Rent-free occupancy until Lady Day, with future rent to be agreed, and accommodations for hinnels gardeners and country carts on same conditions.
