News from Europe in September 1744 imperial and naval reports

A long dispatch from The Hague dated Sept 1744 details broad European movements. Dutch privateers captured nine ships laden with naval stores from England at Cape Palos and brought them to Cartagena. Messages from Milan and Vienna describe clerics, regiments, Austrian and Prussian maneuvers, fortresses, sieges, troop movements through Turin, Prague, and Bohemia, plus a treaty memorial from Count Seinsheim inviting the Dutch Republic to join a Francfort alliance to preserve the Holy Roman Empire. The communication includes the French and Swedish diplomatic posts, and the British envoy’s pressure over Hessian contingents and German state alignments amid ongoing war in Italy, Saxony, and the Austrian succession crisis.
