Yesterday at about four in the afternoon died at his house in Tottenham Middlesex Smithson Esq one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the county. His estate large goes to his nephew Sir Hugh Smithson Bart Member for Middlesex who is now at York. From Parbdados we hear Governor Byng's Lady bore a son on July 13. A lighter laden with coals damaged near St Mary's Low Bridge. two men aboard saved by boats. A brewer's servant in Southwark discovered with a key to a store cellar stole away and, overcome by guilt, cut his throat. A surgeon attended but the wound may prove mortal. Yesterday 17 prisoners tried at the Old Bailey. one capitally convicted George White for robbing a surgeon on the highway near Old Ford by Low. The Jacoba bound London to Leghorn captured by a Spanish privateer, likely to be restored as Dutch ownership. The Lucuania bound New England for Philadelphia lost at Cape May. Imports and exports noted: Dunkirk Brandy 6381 gallons, New England rum 3 tuns, Jamaica rum 5 tuns, exported for New York 187 casks. Lead shot mentioned.
