A French sloop from Crozick with sale for port arrives, two passengers aboard. Torrington from Spithead anchors at Portland Road bringing Sarah and Frances Scarborough Thomas and Rebecca Whitby soldiers and twenty six small vessels bound for Guernsey and Jersey.

Earl of Stair elected North Britain peer in Edinburgh

Reports from Edinburgh note on Friday night the Right Hon. Earl of Stair was unanimously elected one of the Sixteen Peers for North Britain replacing the late Earl of Lauderdale. Eighteen peers were present, twenty six voted by proxy, and the selection follows the recent burial news.
