Yesterday arrived mail from Holland. Reports from Moscow and Vienna recount court ceremonies, awards, and military appointments. London and Falmouth ship movements note arrivals from Barbados Jamaica and Maryland as fleets sail and quarantine ships depart.
A list announces Mr. Welftead's Narrative and a Primitive Liturgy at 1s each, plus A Dissertation on Nonsense and Advertisements 3s 8d. Other titles include The first Sermon and Grave Errors of Painters. Prices range from 6d each to 8s 6d for the full set, with a last volume not yet published.
A 1730 testimonial from John Freeman, living on Cannon Street, credits John Moore of Laurence Pountney Lane with curing dropsy and related symptoms after prior failed remedies. The note promises two medicines, and that Moore will treat a truly poor patient gratis if vouched for by parish churchwardens.
London notices report deaths and appointments including Montague of Bow estate owner and William Hitch clerk of the Declarations in the King's Bench. Also Earl Cowper visiting the Lord Chancellor and health trip plans for Bryan Cook to Aix la Chapelle. A robbery attempt on Widow Moore in Shoemaker Row is blamed on a Dutch Jew. a cart accident in Whitechapel claims a life. Edinburgh lists officials elected Provost Morrison and guild officers, and notes Moore the thief being indicted. Kirkenbright Lord’s death and succession mentioned.
