Proclamation on Marque and Reprizal against Spain in Caribbean

Rev Robert Swinburn Named Morning Lecturer in Newcastle

Newcastle common council on Monday chose the Rev. Robert Swinburn of University College Oxford as Morning Lecturer at All Saints Church in place of the late Rev. Farrington. Racing at South Shields saw Herdman’s bay mare Fore’d Meat win ten pounds, Brown’s grey mare Clarity Dol win five, and Surtees’s grey mare win fifteen pounds.

Port News Riverside Downs Arrival of Swedish Ships At London

This morning the Downs were approached by two Swedish ships from Gottenburg bound for London. The Augustus Caesar, Hampton, arrived from Petersbourg. Wind eastward. Gravesend September 2. The London, Palmer, from Gottenburg passed by, and the Mary, Ceats, from Hudson's Bay.
