Riches and prizes from Madeira to the Atlantic
From Madeira on September 18 N S comes news of His Majesty's Ship Succes under Captn Thompson arriving with a large French prize of 300 tons carrying sugar, cochineal, cocoa, 180,000 dollars, 60 bars of gold and silver. The prize sailed for Boston Sept 21 and is expected to be condemned. Also reports of the Sea Horse returning to Kingston Jamaica with captured privateers and several ships bound to Jamaica. Pursers of several indiamen arrived in town with tidings of prize arrivals and safety of ships homeward bound.
