Creek Indians resist French pressure in Georgia July 28

Frederica, July 28, reports French efforts to draw Upper and Lower Creek bands into conflict with English traders. The Ufurchee King Tooaraleeche and 20 attendants arrived from the Creek Nation with assurances they rejected French terms and would block passage to the English. Captain Horton, in command for Oglethorpe, supplied arms and powder, while the Creek Navy, about 500 men strong, prepared to oppose their rivals.
