Diamant Purchases and Alleged Deception Scrutinized in Bergen
A long declaration from Bergen recounts the attempt to purchase a vast diamond in 1598 to clear one’s name and protect a family estate. The writer details negotiating with Jamchund, a leading diamond merchant, the high risks and prices discussed, and his insistence on proving the true purchase. He asserts fairness, records, and asks for witness to God, with a postscript about inheritance.
