The King orders suspension of double pay and pensions across all offices, posts, and royal establishments to restore finances. Widows and small pensions are exempted under conditions, while two-year suspension covers military and civil salaries. The decree aims to reallocate funding to troops, marine, and royal household costs amid fiscal strain.

General Post Office in London dated May 12 1739 announces rewards and information on bills and notes stolen from the Western Mail. Authorities state the culprit is in Exeter Gaol and urges the public to report any bills sent by the mail to the General Post Office.
