In this 1744 letter from the Daily Post, author analyzes potential peace with Bourbon, Italian theater risks for Sardinia, and Vienna's moves via Piedmont. Bristol May 12 Extrait of a letter dated April 10 aboard the Nemure off Fillafranca describes terrible weather near Minorca and near-loss of ships. Primceffa lost sails and headed to Mahon while a fireship nearly collided with a hospital ship. Near Antibes and Nice cannons fired from shore as Spaniards and others shot at ships after surprise capture of a pass.
Deal May 13 The Outward-bound ships stay as last noted. The Joseph Dunbar sailed for South Carolina with wind from the north. Arrivals at several ports include the Tryton from London to Rhode Island and the Anne Katharina Hartman from Zant and Hull to Hamburg.
Friday last a Patent passed the Great Seal appointing the Right Hon. the Lord Viscount Lisburne Lord Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum for the County of Casnigan. A grant followed to Francis Meysey for a deacon's office at Cleobury Mortimer. Also last week Rev. Mr. French chosen Restor of St James parish in Suffolk. Jupiter satellites may be observed next Thursday with proper instruments and accurate time. David Poole of Lincoln's Inn Ely married Miss Bird, heiress to 10000. Mr. Jones of Epping weds Miss Celicia Nuttall, fortune 6000. The trial of Anne Hawkes postponed. Margaret Green acquitted for adulterated bread. Mary Aford committed for theft of linens from Mr. Eustace Ames.

Dartmouth privateer La Grofé captured Cefes. Molly from Virginia to Whitehaven seized by Spaniards. Edward and Mary of Leith taken to Dunkirk. Drake from St Sebastian arrived at Plymouth with 150 prisoners. privateers under Spanish colours attacked Lancaster but were repelled. note corrected about Dr Wilson and high water at London-Pridge. financial market mentions South Sea stock and annuities. various bank and government loan prices listed.
