The account describes Aleppo during the Zineh festival with markets hung in rich silks and glassy light from hundreds of lamps. Tradesmen parade in armored and richly dressed pageants, including velvet makers in gold tissue mantles and musicians, amid prayers and royal salutes.
At the Apple Brandy Warehouse on Keen's Wharf along the Strand, Brandy praised as fine as SLD is sold wholesale. Foreign substitutes rise daily while Geneva Holland is described as very different from English Geneva and offered at 2s 4d per gallon. Tasting is offered to all without purchase, at half foreign price of 3s 6d per gallon.

Paris says four Parliament presidents compete for posts. the Princess of Wales receives diamond earrings valued at 4000. A royal funeral procession for Sir Cecil Wray is planned. the First Regiment of Foot Guards drill in Hyde Park. corn prices in Gloucester are listed. the Gazetteer defends journalistic truth and liberty.
