Report from Genoa on the 1st forecasts a miserable Corsican state with Genoese fearing Senate secretly sells the island to a foreign power. Spain rumored to be buyer as war drains the republic. A squadron and gallies may seize the territory while Genoa neglects further defense and enemy forces push to reduce forts.
Deal May 6 no ship in the Downs. The Anne, Holland, sailed for Jamaica. The Hope, Lathering ton, arrives from Norway at Gravesend. Deal May 7 the Thomas, Lucas, sails for Cadiz. The Nancy, Steadman, arrives from Philadelphia. Wind southwest.
News from Breslau reports devastating fires near St Christopher's Church and Creutzburg reducing entire towns to ashes including the town houses and church. Parallels of unrest surface with ruffians marching through Poland and Imperial forces gathering in Hungary. London notes include royal progress, a coach breakdown, noble deaths, and pardons offered for identifying arsonists.

On Monday the 25th of April a young female dog of Dutch variety vanished from House No. 10 Gray's Inn Lane opposite the Alms-house. The dog has pale yellow or dun body legs and tail, round small ears, large black eyes, a very short nose and black mouth and lips. A reward of half a guinea will be paid to anyone who brings the dog to the stated house No 10 with no questions asked. No larger reward or further ads.
