Letters from Cheshire Lancashire and Staffordshire promise a fine season. Tea thefts and large cargoes reach the excise office. A highwayman robbed Mr Fletcher in Bermondsey Street. The theatre season opens with The Rehearsal at Drury Lane and The Privitm at Covent Garden.
