News from Holland and Petersburgh to Vienna and Berlin reports resumed hostilities between Sweden and Russia after failed negotiations. Prussia advances into Bohemia, Olmutz surrenders, Bavarian banners shift, and Austrian forces push across Moravia with garrison holds and troop movements. Royal and district posts describe further actions in Franconia, Westphalia, and Lombardy as armies maneuver toward Bohemia and Italy.
Ireland in April reports the death of Richard Povey chief serjeant at arms after forty years in service. Roscommon Sessions House collapse injuring several. Brigadier Brage's Foot returns to England amid loud rejoicing. Colonel Hugh's Regiment arrives to sail to England with firm resolve.
Lancaster reports the Good Intent Saemon from London on April 25. Plymouth notes ships Newcastle and Lyme arriving April 27, and Two Stallions Phillips for Duralston, William Thomson for London, Industrious Bee Durell for Newcastle, John and Jane Olive and Marley Durell for Newfoundland sailing April 28. Deal sees Francis Werry for Oporto April 29. Gravesend records John Gally Craige from New England, Peter and Bridget Toll from Norway, Mercury Hawkins from Barbadoes. Mould Hamilton from North Carolina arrives Hull.
In London the second Regiment of Foot Guards under Duke of Marlborough is ordered to be under arms by 6 AM in Hyde Park amid rumors of a Flanders voyage. Merchant ships and freight offers are being arranged to speed embarkation, with a galliass capturing retreating sailors at several stairs. The East India Company surveyor Mr Bright succeeds aged Mr Brown, and Lady Elwell, widow of Sir Elwell, dies at her Clifford Street home.
A fragmentary 18th century notice records Edmund Elwell Barr and the Lady of Anthur’s burial in Eg ham Surrey. It lists recent deaths at Maidstone and Newgate Street, a Bridewell detainer for hawking unstamped papers, theft at Sunbury, and various maritime and stock market items. It also notes theatre listings at Drury Lane Covent Garden and Goodman's Fields, with high water at London Bridge and fluctuating government securities and bank figures.
