Meanwhile a 20-man delegation from Schirvan and Derbent seeks Imperial orders on their next move. Sixteen notable conspirators have been detained amid unrest spurred by recent executions. Troops march from Novogrod and Smolentke toward the Volga for Aftracan, while provisions and cannon are prepared at Veronitz and other ports. The King and court visit Careberg for summer, and a peasant sentence dispute leads to a three-states resolution permitting the peasantry to moderate punishments, with one kept on bread and water and the other for 15 days, followed by full thanks to the States.
