Burfey Committted Over Robberies On Putney Heath
On Saturday last Thomas Burfey was committed by the Lord Mayor to the Poultry Compter on the information of Henry Medin for being concerned with him in robbing a Gentleman and Lady on a Chaise at Putney Heath of 13 Guineas and a half. The Gentleman, after visiting Burfey, says he was not among the robbers. Burfey is also charged, with Medin, in robbing Mrs. Bertie on Waltham Forest on June 19, and remains in the Compter. Also noted is the United East India Company purchasing Mr Richard Newsham’s engine, with advertisements offering 100 guineas for entering into articles to ensure it will move water farther and faster than others.
