Appointment Rule For Sheriff Of London And Middlesex 1743

A Common-Council order from June 6 1743 in London Chamber of the Guildhall sets a forty hundred pound payment and twenty marks toward prison minister’s upkeep as a condition for Sheriff eligibility. The rule links to October 1703 act and December 1656 order. It states exemption from the Sheriff role unless one serves as Alderman.
