Marriage of a Ward Councillor and Bromley Lady at Pontack’s

Yesterday Mr John Innocent a Ward common councilman and vintner in Fleet Street married Mrs Gooding of Bromley Kent. After a dinner at Pontack’s an entertainment was provided for them and about two thousand poor haymakers sought relief at the Royal Exchange due to rain and a ruined harvest. A considerable purse was raised by gentlemen for their relief. A detainer warrant was issued against Thomas Merryfield for involvement in a murder near Stepney Fields last summer. Also export of silver and gold coin to Holland and wheat to Portugal noted, with bankrupts listed as Thomas Buckler and William Bulkeley.
