Imperial Envoy Receives Audience of King at Madrid
Madrid June 2. Count Thoring Seefeldt, Emperor’s Minister Plenipotentiary, had his first audience with the King. He presented credentials and delivered an eloquent speech praising the Emperor’s esteem. The King pledged care for Imperial interests and advised avoiding use of Navarre and Court admirals to prevent a recurrence of recent Mediterranean conflicts. The king appointed d Aureuil to command at Cartagena, and preparations continue for joint operations with the Toulon squadron. A daily prayer was held for political stability, with further moves noted on naval affairs and domestic appointments.
