Forecastle Tale of a Privateer Prize Encounter
The Privateer had no fatalities among its crew of forty on board the Prize, which carries sixteen carriage guns and swivels. Thirty-six are prisoners. Valued at 10,000. The Privateer itself bears 16 guns and 17 swivels with 150 men. This is the third prize taken in about ten weeks, aside from a privateer. King William sent the Prize to sea after sighting it in the harbor mouth, seeking another ship from the same port, based on letters found aboard.
