London report from Petersbourg dated June 23 notes Sir Rondeau delivered dispatches to Count d Osterman and an audience with the Empress. It is alleged the letters concern the French squadron back to the Barrick and a British plan to send a squadron to monitor French moves affecting northern tranquility. Count d Osterman discussed the matter with M Nolcken, Sweden's minister, in several conferences. Letters from Paris claim Corsicans protest Genoese rule and assure Maillebois they will not return under Genoese domination.
