Plague News From Smyrna And CorsairReports Abroad

Leghorn June 11 French vessel arrives with letters warning that the plague rages in Smyrna, many deaths daily. Reports of Algerine corsairs forcing three Neapolitan barks aground near Sicily. A Tartane from Salonica brings news of a six asper tax on tobacco provoking European remonstrances to the Porte. More letters note Corsairs of Tripoli breaking peace with the Emperor and other naval movements.
