Nomination list for South Sea Company directors

At meetings in January and February 1735 a committee named by South Sea Company proprietors proposed a slate of candidates for governor deputy governor and directors. Names include Burrell Wilks Bristow Haultwell Lambourne and many other named gentlemen with instructions for votes and upcoming elections.

Fleece Tavern General Meeting of the South Sea Stock Proprietors

Crown Meeting Chooses Directors and Reconsiders Members

A 1735 record notes a Crown meeting that formed a list of directors and admitted a Frenchman while excluding several capable gentlemen. It suggests replacing two members from the fleece lift to improve the company’s service, and urges surveying two strong substitutes from the same lift. Several proprietors are named, including Crove by John Holland, a goldsmith from Bishopsgate, and a Britant ear ring.
