British Ordnance Orders for Cannons and Gunpowder

London reports the Board of Ordnance orders immediate shipment of twelve 36 pounders, twelve 24 pounders, and forty 12 pounders with carriages, plus six tons of gunpowder and twenty tons of bullets for British forces in Germany. General Quarter Sessions Adjourned in City of London

London January 14 1743 notice that the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace for the City of London will be held by adjournment at Guildhall on Tuesday the 17th instant at nine in the forenoon. All common councilmen and constables not yet qualified may attend for that purpose.

Notice of Reward for Highway Robbery Suspect in Stangate Hole

General Post Officer London January 12 1743 reports a road robbery near Stangate Hole on January 11. A single highwayman attacked the North Mail from Huntington to Stilton at six o'clock, displaying a pistol and fleeing with bags from Durham Hull Boston Felkingham Lincoln Horncastle Louth Spalding Stamford Bourn and Peterborough. The robber, a stout man wearing a dark frock over his coat, rode a dark sorrel horse with a white face. A reward of two hundred pounds is offered for the capture and conviction of the culprit or for anyone providing information leading to his arrest, with a royal pardon for the discoverer.
