Last Night Armed Mail from Holland to Moscow Planned Trade

A fragmentary 18th century note says merchants from Holland wrote from Petersbourg that several merchants planned to move to Moscow to pursue commerce with Persia. Troops in the region were ordered to be ready to march at first warning, though the occasion was unclear.

Royal Seals to appoint officers and college warden change

London reports a commission to seal appointments naming the Prince of Wales to nominate officials including domestic servants. Rev Dr Dobson of Winchester College dies of fever and will be replaced by Rev Dr Bigg of New College Oxford. Griffith Lloyd of Boskadewin is made Customer and Deputy Collector at Neath port. Capt Lieutenant Bagnall commands a company in the 1st Foot Guards, succeeding Major General Wheeller. Capt Herbert, son of the Earl of Pembroke, becomes Captain Lieutenant to the regiment.
