London City Court orders enforcement against Sunday trade and vice
An 1737 London court order denounces Sunday selling of fruit and goods in public streets and the presence of street vendors and sex workers. It commands marshals and officers to prevent sale on the Lord's Day, to arrest violators including vintners and bakers, and to bring offenders before magistrates for punishment under existing laws. Citizens are urged to report offences and officer negligence to uphold public peace.
