The Dublin House debated a wool export regulation due to weather delays. A motion for a regulated permit to curb clandestine wool exports was supported by leading officials and opposed by others who warned of economic ruin and political risk. The vote adjourned for further mature consideration.
In Trowbridge Somerset twenty four disabled weavers plus a Carter hauled a wagon of forty four bushels of coal fourteen miles over rough roads to Mr Justice Cooper who gratefully rewarded their effort. In Newcastle the ice bound river prompted 200 workers to cut a route to the staiths freeing keels bound for London et al.
Cork reports arrivals of Susannah from New England to London Hoar and Mary-Anne from Faro to Dublin. Weymouth records Neptune from New England on February 18. Deal notes Sea-Horse from Woodbridge to Liverpool and a Swedish Sip returned to Bourdeaux after Sunday. Gravesend lists Goodfellow from Leghorn and Phenix from Seville on February 19.
A London mail from Ireland reports on the night of the 13th an arrest of M Guitain son to the President of the Parliament of Bourdeaux with papers of high importance. The next day the Council was summoned and the prisoner examined. no bail granted and few details released. Also noted are Woollen Affair debates, Admiralty actions creating the Montagu and appointing Capt Martyn to the Seaford in the Mediterranean under Admiral Haddock. Obituaries record the death of Mrs Glover and Mrs Ferrers in London.
