Public Resolution to Pay 2000 Pesos for Dutch Ship Seizure
From yesterday's mail comes word that the Dey and the Divan of Tunis and Tripoli reaffirm a 300-year understanding with the United Provinces. They will pay 2000 pesos to settle the sale of provisions aboard the Dutch ship Jane Elizabeth seized by a Corsair. Consul Paravicini reported assurances to the Dey, who replied that money is ready and orders to pay will be given. The Dey urged Dutch masters to show passes and avoid clashes. Corsairs were told to refrain from molesting Dutch vessels. The Regencies seek peace with the States General. Additional items note military quarters along the Rhine Moselle and various London and Brussels notices.
