A dated London style address pleads Westminster electors to defend electoral liberty against corruption threatening the city and the nation. The author praises a candidate pair, urges unity, loyalty to the crown, and warns against surrendering birthright through compromise.
In Bristol on December 24 reports say a large ball of fire with a long train appeared in the sky above Kendalshire and nearby districts. Observers claim the object was as large as a butchel and described it as a striking celestial phenomenon reported across the city.
The December 25 Port News lists ships sailing for Jamaica Montferar Carolina and other destinations including Gibraltar Oporto and the Cape Verde Islands. Wind ESE. December 26 arrivals include Duke d Humier from Boulogne and Dover with Benjamin Gipraitar. Later arrivals from Gravenhagen Humber include Abigail and John and Fowler from Gottenburg.
London reports arrival of a Paris letter containing reflections on the king's speech deemed inappropriate for English papers. It also claims Nathaniel Blackerby, Esq, a justice of the peace, will be put forward as a candidate for Member of Parliament for the City and Liberty of Westminster.
