Wreck of Swedish East-India Ship Off Orkney

Reports from Edinburgh state a large Swedish East-India Ship wrecked near South Ronaldsay in Orkney on the 18th of last month. Soldiers and sailors seized boats and barred escape, but a fierce gale drove them northward and it is feared all aboard perished. A few survivors later reached shore on a makeshift float. The ship is said to be of considerable value.

Severe frost grips region halting rivers and trade

The December frost shuts Tyne Wear and Tees navigation as snowlocks roads. Provisions grow clearer but cattle provender scarce. A hunter, Thomas Hed'hon of Ganlais, is found dead in snow after tracking hares and not returning, his body frozen two miles from home.
