The King's War Estate Meeting in Paris 1355 Record

In the Chronicle we read of a royal summons for the three Estates of the realm to meet in Paris on the 29th November 1355. The assembly, led by Peter de la Foret and the Archbishop Rheims, debated troop numbers and funding for a major invasion. The States required reforms and a capitation tax to sustain a 30,000-strong army, with debates on coin value and revenue distribution. The king faced pressure to satisfy grievances while advancing the war effort, with Navarrese influence seen as both a check and a lever in state policy.
