Commodore Anson at Fernandez forces 50 men and 200 more later

From Jamaica credible accounts say Commodore Anson, arriving at Fernandez the Portuguese Settlement, had only fifty hands left. The Spanish squadron, hunting him, narrowly missed him days before his arrival. At Fernandez he recruited 200 hands and then sailed for the East Indies with the Centurion and Gloucester, leaving other ships behind due to lack of men while claiming two millions of pieces of eight aboard. PrisonersExchange from Lisbon arrived aboard the King of Portugal ship Hughes, though pressed into service in the Channel.
