Born in Bologna in 1675, he is praised for erudition and held roles including Archbishop of Bologna and Prefect of the Holy Office. The arrival of the new Pontiff is marked by ceremony in the Chapel of Sextus Quintus and a reshuffle of high offices across the Curia.
