Surprising Hailstorm Causes Townwide Damage in Tewksbury

From Gloucester dated Aug 20, reports describe a Thursday hailstorm near Tewksbury with violent thunder and lightning. Hailstones as large as eggs shattered church windows and damaged about 400 pounds of town property, killing birds on rooftops and injuring standing corn nearby.

Local man dies after long illness at Cambury House lodging

Yesterday morning a man named Richard Foley of Grantham left his estate to his nephew. Captain Roberts of Limehouse, a veteran of the West India trade, is noted. A dyer in Southwark, Justin Whitaker, was robbed near Shooters Hill by two highwaymen of nine guineas a watch and silver. An officer of the Customs was assaulted near ourfields by six armed men, losing silver and gold. The Lyon Man of War with a large convoy sailed from Jamaica for England on June 22. The ship Keigwin from Leghorn to London was burnt accidentally in the Hope. The Mary Merry from Genoa carrying currants and other large ships were captured by a Spanish privateer and taken to Jalaga.
