Siege of NIffa Ends as Count Philippi Seizes Town
From Hamburg news comes details of Count Philippi with Count Seckendorff units advancing on Niffa after a capitulation arrangement with the Bathaw. The Turkish garrison, led by the Bathaw, surrendered on the 28th following a prior demand for 24 hours. The Imperial forces found 150 brass cannons and large ammunition stores. Casualties included about 2,500 on the Turkish side and several officers and men among the Croatians, with captives exchanged and provisions promised during the march west. Further dispatches note defeat of a militia corps of 6,000 near the Unna river.
