A private letter discusses Prague prisoners and the court’s hard line, noting Bohemia’s siege prospects and the risk of Marshal Maillebois arriving late. It criticizes court politicking, past missteps with Berlin and Dresden, and hints at conditions after battles and territorial aims in Germany and Bohemia.
In Limerick on July 23 a force of 63 men with a large country party surrounded Craidle Wood to flush out rogues but found only one well armed man in a cave who was sent to Ennis Gaol as the rest retreated to the mountains the day prior. Dublin on July 27 notes deaths including Mrs Anne Throckmorton the cousin German to the late Earl of Darlington at Mr Plunket's and Henry Bunbury of Ballyferkin Treasuer of Oxford County. Rev Dr Jemmat Brown, Dean of Ross, is presented to the living formerly held by Mr Jepson, deceased.
In Edinburgh yesterday John Samuel, a gardener, was publicly whipped through the streets after a High Court of Justiciary sentence for violating the sepulchres of the dead. Magistrates ensured calm with White Rods as officers, firemen, and city guard accompanied the procession. Two privateers were sighted off Scotland's northern coasts, a long black pink vessel with 60 men on deck.
Aug 3 reports Hastings returning to Spithead with a convoy including Union Loyal Betty Dargent Lucius Hardy Nancy Blacket Fenwick Ulysses Margaret Dillon Eagle Hannah Hannah Kilpatrick bound for Gibraltar and Lisbon. Other ships arrive at Liverpool Lancaster Falmouth Pool from Ostend Gottenburg Hamburg and London.
Last Tuesday the Captains of the King's Yacht attended the Admiralty Board and were instructed to prepare for His Majesty's reception. The baggage of the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards Blue was shipped for Flanders, and Prince Sherbatov's baggage was placed aboard the Katherine Yacht as he plans to embark for Holland with his family. Also noted: deaths, robberies, and imprisonments, plus customs entries and high water timing at London Bridge.
