Deaths and crimes blur a London notice listing incidents

On Tuesday night Edward Ridley Justice of the Peace for the Liberty of Welstminster and Captain of a Company in the third Regiment of Foot Guards died at his house in Soho Square. Col Richard Ellis also died of fever contracted in confinement with the same Colonel. A third gentleman who accompanied them recovered from illness. Two young women allegedly accuse a knight of rape. Mrs Tuffnel, a wealthy maiden, left Essex Street lodging. Macy Kingston, a stationer in Curriers Alley, was jailed on suspicion of stamping counterfeit coins. many stamps were found in his shop. A fire at the Elephant and Castle, Kent Street, killed two lodgers. William Poole was elected Beadle of the Farriers Company. William Wells and Capt Kirby were robbed near Bourne Bridge by three highwaymen who took money, watches, rings, and more, and cut the horse reins. Stock and bond prices, including South Sea shares and premiums, were listed with daily values. An advertisement announced a Theatre Royal Drury Lane performance with a double comedy Love Makes a Man.
