Admiral Vernon Fails to Meet French Squadron Off Hispaniola

London news from Cicero reports Captain Dighton arriving at Bristol from Jamaica and Admiral Vernon patrolling off Hispaniola on February 5 seeking the French fleet but not finding them. Dutch-Indiaman letters say Haeflingfield and Wilmington were at St Helena on December 13. John Dean of Sussex was aboard. A Dover rescue by a Dutch ship saved Captain Tavener from a larger Dutch vessel and a Spanish privateer.
