City pavement order for Purbeck Squares in narrow London streets
At a December 16 1737 session the Commissioners of Sewers and Pavements in London ordered that future and repaired pavements in narrow streets be laid two feet into the street from curbs or cellar window spurs. It directs pavings and workers to conform or face peril, by order of the court.
